Learn More About Our School

Reddam House Durbanville provides the globally respected Cambridge International curriculum, encompassing the Cambridge Early Years curriculum in our Early Learning School, Cambridge Primary from Grades 1 – 6, Cambridge Lower Secondary in Grades 7, 8, and 9, and the Cambridge International examinations from Grades 10 – 12. There is an additional option of A-Levels as a post-matric course or a thirteenth year. Graduates receive an international school leaving certificate equipping them to study anywhere in the world. Cambridge International School leaving qualifications are also recognised by all South African universities and colleges.

The Independent Examination Board (IEB) is a South African assessment body accredited by Umalusi, which is the Quality Assurance Council for general and further education and training. The IEB emphasizes in-depth understanding and the application of knowledge, rather than rote memorization. Results are accepted by all universities and tertiary colleges in South Africa.

The students carry the same subjects from Grade 10 until Grade 12. Compulsory subjects include:
English Home Language, Afrikaans First additional Language, Core Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation.

We provide a wide variety of elective subjects for students to choose from in both the CIE and IEB curricula, reflecting the diversity of our student body.

You can contact our admissions officer, who will guide you through the process, or complete an enquiry online today.

Our school operates two bus routes for students living in nearby neighborhoods to get to school. This transportation is available for children from Grade 2 to post-matric. Both routes operate every day of the school term, going to school and back home at the end of the day. Routes are available from Edgemead and Plattekloof. We use our own bus fleet and employ drivers directly, so you can be confident of the safety and reliability of the service that we offer. We adhere to strict safety codes when transporting children to sporting and other events.

As an Inspired school, Reddam House Durbanville benefits from access to global educational best practices, international exchanges, and exclusive partnerships with world-renowned schools such as The Royal College of Music, London and Forte, who have recently launched Pathways to Performance, providing students with unrivalled access to world-class music tuition via Forte's online music education platform.

Our teachers are highly qualified and hand-picked for their expertise and dedication to the children in their care.  Our team of experienced educators provide their students with the best possible educational support, and we also have teaching assistants who add to the warm and nurturing environment of the classroom.

We do, in the form of ‘Adventure Zone’, which starts directly after the school day for Stage 1 to 5 children. The children enjoy a healthy, hot meal before they take a rest or sleep. An activity is planned after sleep time as well as a snack.

We focus on the individual needs of every student, ensuring they are given the necessary tools to succeed. We manage the transition from a CAPS curriculum by committing to develop a deep understanding of the particular strengths of each child, and to actively nurture individuality, talent, a strong sense of self, and a quiet confidence that will help them to reach their full academic potential.

Yes, Reddam House Durbanville provides students with a dual curriculum: the very best in international education in the Cambridge International (CI) and the top South African Independent Examinations Board (IEB) schools’ curriculum.

The IEB is an internationally benchmarked qualification and is equivalent to the CI AS-level.

Cambridge International has two main assessments: IGCSE and AS/A-levels. The results of these are internationally set, run and marked exams are transferable and accepted in every major university in the world – including universities and tertiary colleges in South Africa.

The dual curriculum choice ensures our students are fully equipped for a global future.

Our school is the top performing school in South Africa for the Cambridge International curriculum. Students consistently rank top in South Africa and the world for a variety of subjects including  Mathematics, English, the Sciences, History and Geography, the Arts, Drama and Music.

When IEB results are announced, our matriculants top the charts of academic excellence.

At Reddam House Durbanville we provide students with a platform to truly excel at a global level, and we are held in high regard for the delivery of this top quality educational experience.

The Cambridge International (CI) curriculum for high school and the Cambridge Primary curriculum are internationally recognised curricula, devised through the University of Cambridge Education faculty.

Experts in the field of education have created a syllabus that reflects the latest educational research, and, supported by teaching staff and learning resources,  provides a strong platform for students to progress from one stage to another.

Cambridge International schooling and its syllabus is notably more challenging than local offerings in all subjects. Cambridge International candidates are therefore far more rigorously prepared, not only for tertiary education requirements, but also for workplace critical thinking and problem solving expectations.
