IEB or the NSC?
The IEB curriculum has a reputation for high academic standards and its holistic approach is often considered to provide a more wide-ranging and robust education, with a greater level of flexibility for schools and teachers. In comparison, the NSC curriculum provides a far more standardised approach and although both are recognised by tertiary institutions, the IEB is often considered to be the gold-standard in terms of academics.
IEB Classes
IEB classes prepare students for life beyond school, with a particular focus on practical and transferrable skills that will serve them well both at university and in the world of work. Many international universities and colleges recognise IEB qualifications, not just because of the depth and breadth of the IEB curriculum, but because they teach students how to think critically, problem-solve effectively and communicate clearly.
IEB Assessment
The IEB assessment emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, and a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of subjects. It goes beyond rote memorisation, and encourages ongoing assessment and feedback, so that teachers have a better understanding of each student's abilities and growth and can then tailor their approach accordingly. Students are required to complete tasks throughout the year, including projects, case studies, tests and practical assessments, all of which contribute towards their final grade.
IEB Certificate Benefits
IEB qualifications can be advantageous for students looking to pursue further studies as well as for those who wish to enter the job market. Employers and academic institutions recognise the benefits and quality of an IEB education and the National Secondary Certificate is an internationally recognised qualification that is accompanied by strong networks and alumni communities.
