Márjó Prins
Head of Early Learning & Junior Preparatory
After completing 5 years of study: Junior Primary, Pre-primary (HDE) and Learners with Special Educational Needs (FDE LSEN), Márjó started her teaching career in the UK. She lived there for three years teaching Reception and Year 3, as well as being the Art coordinator, before moving to Hout Bay. At the International School of Cape Town she taught Reception and Year 3, whilst overseeing the Learning Support programme and then moved to Durbanville to join ISCT Tygerberg.
A highly experienced, motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic Head, Márjó has played an integral part in the genesis of the Early Learning School since 2004 and has been actively involved in the growth and development of this phase of the school for over a decade. Her calm, assertive, consultative leadership can be felt throughout the school.
Márjó aims to ensure children love coming to school, are genuinely excited about learning, are confident to explore, participate, enjoy healthy self-esteem and most importantly, respect themselves and others. A key aspect of her approach involves clear, ongoing communication with children and parents. In this crucial early learning stage, every new experience is a priceless investment in laying a solid foundation for the future. Few would argue the tremendous potential impact of this phase on life outcomes, which will eventually form that firm foundation of their lifelong journey.
