Our Vision for Social Responsibility

The students and parents of Reddam House Durbanville have a proud history of admirable community service work and projects, and students from Early Learning School all the way to Matric are involved with various initiatives throughout the year. Our school motto is “We Shall Give Back”, and every day, in numerous ways, we endeavour to do just that.

Recent Projects

MES

In preparation for the cold winter months in Cape Town, the families of Reddam House Durbanville came together to support our Blanket Drive. All blankets were donated to MES, a local social development organisation that serves the poor in our community.

End Period Poverty

Our school celebrated Women’s Month in August by collecting toiletries and sanitary items as part of our End Period Poverty Drive. The items were delivered to Durbanville Children’s Home to support them as they care for many young women in our community.

Durbanville Children’s Home

As part of our first World Cup Day, the families of Reddam House Durbanville collected old sporting equipment. These items were donated to Durbanville Children’s Home which we believe will give more children an opportunity to discover their sporting potential.

Athlone School for the Blind

The families of Reddam House Durbanville have been supporting the ECD students of Athlone School for the Blind by bringing Christmas to them through the Santa Shoebox project. This institution educates children, aged 4-7, who are either partially or completely blind. The Interact members look forward to making this special delivery each year as they have the opportunity to see each child collect their very own Santa Shoebox from Santa himself.

Jars of Hope

In celebration of Mandela Day, the families of Reddam House Durbanville collected various non-perishable food items. On Mandela day, all our students gathered the items and worked together to create Jars of Hope. These jars contain the correct ingredients to prepare nutritious soup which could serve a family of 4. We collaborated with Durbanville Rotary Club to distribute these jars to the local communities of Fisantekraal.
